Garibaldi Memorial
Built on the east side of the Gianicolo hill, the Garibaldi memorial is dedicated to those brave republican soldiers that defended for thirty days the City of Rome from the attack of the Napoleon 3d better equipped troops, trying to defend a dream: a Republican Rome, freed from the oppression of the Pope, and its advanced modern Constitution, on July 1849.
A shiny white marble monument that hosts the bodies of all those soldiers that from the 1849 until the 1870, fought in different occasion to conquer the city of Rome in order to give to Italy its natural Capital.
A milestone of Italian independence history.
