The Italy's Independence walking tour, from Gianicolo hill to Trastevere neighborhood, winds up on a hill with an astounding view of the city, through unique places and monuments of the recent history of Rome and Italy to end in Trastevere neighbourhood: a city within the city.
The walk starts from the "Faro degli Italiani" (Italian Lighthouse) square, stops by the equestrian monument dedicated to "Anita Garibaldi" (wife of Giuseppe, "two worlds hero"); it then stops at the wall of Roman Republic Constitution (engraved with words from the most advanced Constitution of 19th century liberal Europe): a belvedere with a splendid view over Rome.
The tour begins to descend down towards the monumental fountain of "Acqua Paola", aka "er Fontanone" (big fountain in roman slang): magnificently overlooking a panoramic terrace over the roofs of Rome; it stops at the monument dedicated to the heroes of the roman revolution in 1849.
It then heads to S. Peter in Montorio church and the marvellous "Tempietto del Bramante" a beautiful Renaissance masterpiece to end in Trastevere close to Porta Settimiana at the very heart of the neighbourhood where we'll have a typical Roman foodie experience, relaxing and chatting over an ITALIAN GELATO.

Joanna and Laura Cosby– :
During our stay in Rome we found out this walk and decided to join the party: it is one of happiest experience we had in Rome, our hosts were lovely and chatty and shared so many private memories as well as interesting informations along the itinerary that, I have to say it is awesome with a great view of the city. Food was delicious, the place we had our lunch is cozy and cool. A great experience, definitely.
Rebecca Stanford– :
We have spent time with Federico and his wife Chiara and they are the best guides…they know everything and everybody and they bring ancient and modern Roma to life in a brand new way. It IS as if you are traveling with best friends and they are so much fun!!! This is a highly personal way to experience Italy and we found them able to accommodate changes in itinerary and make our days and nights fly by.
